Kenya signs 800 million USD MoU with Linglong Tire for Mombasa SEZ plant

China's Shandong Linglong Tire and Kenya have inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to build a 800 million USD tire factory in the Mombasa Special Economic Zone.

 

With its planned location in Mariakani, Kilifi County, the state-of-the-art plant is anticipated to boost local value chains, generate over 1,500 direct jobs, and establish Kenya as a worldwide manufacturing hub.

 

President Ruto announced on social media, "Also, witnessed the signing of an MoU between the Ministry of Investments, Trade and Industry and the Linglong Group for the establishment of a state-of-the-art auto parts industrial park in Kenya, a landmark step in our journey to industrial transformation.

 

One of Kenya's largest industrial investments to date, the facility will be built by Linglong Tyres, a division of Linglong Group, according to a social media post by Lee Kinyanjui, Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Investments, Trade, and Industry of Kenya.
