New Porsche Model Enters in Kenya's Car Market

Kenya: Competition for a share of Kenya's top-end luxury car market has risen a notch higher after the entry of the Porsche Macan, a sports utility vehicle, made its debut Thursday. Franchise holder of Porsche brands in Kenya, Multiple Group, has also opened a state-of-the-art Porsche Centre, a showroom and after-sales centre at the Sameer Business Park on Mombasa Road. The Sh178 million ($2m) showroom and service centre will house up to seven display vehicles at the same time with a unique fitting lounge, a customer cafÃ© and a state-of-the-art workshop. Multiple Group Chairman and MD Rajinder Baryan said during the official opening of the showroom Thursday that it is the demand for reliability, quality, safety and driving pleasure by the Kenyan customer that inspired the company to enter the local market.

Adrian Wayne, regional sales manager of Porsche Middle East and Africa, said besides establishing the first Porsche centre in Kenya, they have introduced the new Porsche Macan, a real sports car with excellent usability and superior handling characteristics, featuring exceptional acceleration, vast engine power, extreme agility and optimum steering precision. The Macan brings to five the number of Porsche models available in Kenya. "Interested customers will have a choice between the Macan S and Macan Turbo costing Sh9.3 million and 9.8 million respectively," said Roy Kyalo, the Brand Manager at Porsche Centre. The Macan S is equipped with a 3.0 litre V6 bi-turbo engine. It can accelerate from 0 to 100km/hour in 5.2 seconds when equipped with the optional sport Chrono package.The entry of Porsche Macan into the SUV segment follows introduction of Mercedes Benz S class in June.
