Chinese Electric Vehicle maker BYD debuts in Rwanda

An "ecosystem of services to support the vehicles" is included with this. Incorporating charging stations, offering solar power generation options, and providing car maintenance, support, and replacement parts are all included.

 

The capital of Rwanda currently has close to 200 EV charging stations.

 

The first BYD (Build Your Dreams) auto dealership in East Africa opened its doors in Kigali recently thanks to CFAO Mobility.The 330 square meter showroom, which is situated in the Kicuriko neighborhood, will display the range's different automobiles.

 

The Dolphin and Dolphin Mini models will be available after the Atto3 electric SUV.

 

"A whole new ecosystem has to be designed around mobility in African cities," stated CFAO Mobility CEO Marc Hirschfeld. This pertains to all stakeholders, including government organizations and urban public transportation networks, in addition to private and business clients.

 

China's BYD overtook Tesla as the largest EV manufacturer in the world last year. According to the most recent data from the two companies, BYD surpassed Tesla for the first time in the fourth quarter of 2023, according to Chinese state media.

 

While BYD reported selling roughly 526,400 EVs in the same quarter of 2023, Tesla claimed to have delivered 484,500 EVs.

 

Before branching out into the automotive industry in 2003, BYD was first a battery designer and manufacturer.

 

It has sold passenger cars to 58 nations and regions worldwide since launching its export strategy in May 2021.
