Low cost Kenya-made car goes on sale at Sh950,000

Matchedje Motor, Mozambique to expand local vehicle manufacturing factory

Matchedje Motor, a sole national automotive company that on Thursday last week launched campaign to sell its first 100 all-terrain vehicles priced at US$19,600, is planning a second-phase expansion of its vehicle manufacturing factory to produce 100,000 vehicles annually. Nairobi signs US$75 million transport deal with Chinese auto manufacturer

 The Nairobi county has signed a US$75mn deal with Chinese auto manufacturer Foton Motor to buy 266 buses for the city’s metro transport system. The 62-seater buses cost US$118,000 and part of the funds allocated for the deal would be utilized to design and develop terminals and fleet management systems, the government officials said. Vehicle assemblers hit record in August

August recorded the highest number of vehicles assembled locally in a single month for over more than five and a half years, signalling a growing appetite for new vehicles. Provisional data show 879 vehicles were assembled in the month, upholding a trend likely to see 2014 as the strongest year for new motor vehicle dealers. Hyundai heavy-duty truck range may be introduced onto SA market
